About Courses

Yes! We offer many online and Self-Study courses. The online Connection Practice basic course is Inner Wellness for Success. The Self-Study courses let you learn at your own pace and go back and review the material.  We encourage you to sign up for four hours of coaching per Self-Study course with a Connection Practice Self-Study coach. This will give you the full benefit of the lectures along with the chance to practice the skill and make it your own.

You can also attend Daily Coherence calls on Zoom.

Upcoming courses are listed on the homepage and the Find a Course page.  If there is not one currently scheduled that works for you, keep checking back, contact a certified trainer near you or send an email to info@connectionpractice.org.

When you have completed Inner Wellness for Success and Emotionally-Safe Relationships (Part 1), you can teach the practice to children and your family.  To coach professionally or teach adults, you must first become certified.

To facilitate teaching children and your family:

  • Connection Practice magnetic boards are the most fun and efficient way to learn the Connection Practice.
  • Have the Feelings and Needs cards on hand. They are available in the online store.
  • An emWave® is an effective tool for teaching and practicing coherence. It is available in the online store.
  • You can also call on a certified coach to help teach the practice and learn how to integrate it into everyday life.

According to the HeartMath® Institute, the award-winning emWave technology is an innovative approach to improving wellness and facilitating personal growth.  It is based on learning to change your heart rhythm pattern to create coherence.

With emWave products, you learn to control your physiology through breathing along with your heart rhythms and focusing on positive emotions. emWave technology collects pulse data (using a pulse sensor) and translates the information from your heart rhythms into graphics on your computer.  As you focus on a positive emotion and breathe along with your heart rhythms, the graphs and lights change to reflect your level of coherence.

While an emWave is not necessary for learning the Connection Practice, it is a valuable tool for becoming adept at entering coherence quickly, no matter what is happening around you. emWaves are available in the online store.

HeartMath is a registered trademark of the HeartMath Institute. emWave is a registered trademark of Quantum Intech, Inc.

Feelings & Needs cards are a very useful tool. They enable you to practice giving and receiving empathy with yourself and others.

They are available in the online store.

Send an email to info@connectionpractice.org with the details of the event. You will be contacted as soon as possible with Rita Marie’s availability.

About the Connection Practice

The Connection Practice is a self-empowering skill that will help you meet any challenge in life. This science-based method for resolving turmoil has been taught to over 100,000 adults and children. It received the Ashoka Changemakers Innovation Award, chosen from 79 projects in 32 countries.

The Connection Practice was created by Rita Marie Johnson, an award-winning innovator, author, speaker and educator. Her book, Completely Connected, received a Nautilus Award in Psychology and tells how the Connection Practice works for people of all ages and walks of life.

The Connection Practice combines empathy and insight to create connection with self and others, laying a foundation for peaceful, creative problem solving that lasts a lifetime. There is no better place for you to learn how to quickly release negative feelings and access your best thinking than in a Connection Practice course.

We believe in creating a harmonious world that reflects our innate connection, where we enjoy emotional safety with each other and solve problems through creative intelligence. Our vision is for champions of youth who value social and emotional intelligence to teach it to the young people they serve. In this way, we can turn generational pain into generational peace.

We are achieving that vision by certifying coaches and trainers. However, we offer courses online and in-person so that anyone, anywhere can learn the Connection Practice and accelerate their personal growth or professional skills.  We are dedicated to spreading the Connection Practice globally and have over 200 trainers in the USA and Puerto Rico, Japan, Costa Rica, Canada, Germany, France and other countries.

The Connection Practice was created by Rita Marie Johnson, an educator, author, speaker, and award-winning innovator who has been sharing her method worldwide for over 15 years. She discovered a synergy between empathy and insight that maximizes social-emotional intelligence, eliminates unnecessary suffering and leads to life enriching choices. This epiphany resulted in the Connection Practice, which works for people of all ages and from all walks of life.  Her implementation of the Connection Practice brought her the Ashoka Changemakers Innovation Award: Building a More Ethical Society, chosen from 79 projects in 32 countries.  Rita Marie currently serves as CEO of Rasur Foundation International. She is committed to turning generational pain into generational peace worldwide through the Connection Practice.

We believe in creating a harmonious world that reflects our innate connection, where we enjoy emotional safety with each other, and solve problems by accessing our creative intelligence. We do this by teaching people to transform turmoil into caring connection with self and others by combining their empathy and insight.  The Connection Practice is a skill that unites empathy and insight to meet challenges in life; it is the profound made practical.

Each step of the practice is based on science. We start with naming feelings to reduce irrational reactions of the amygdala in the brain. Heart-brain coherence reduces irrational reactions of the amygdala. Naming needs requires taking the other person’s perspective, which is cognitive empathy, an important aspect of social-emotional intelligence. Heart-brain coherence brings about positive affect, which increases access to insights. The Connection Practice transforms lives faster and permanently for the better, creating a world that reflects connection.

Rita Marie Johnson’s book, Completely Connected: Uniting our Empathy and Insight for Extraordinary Results, is a good place to start. In this book, she shares the Connection Practice and it's impact. Read about this unique method for connecting with ourselves and others that is supported by scientific research and testimony from people around the world.
In the book you’ll discover how to:

1. Achieve maximum brain function for greater creativity and performance
2. Resolve conflicts quickly and effectively for a safe, productive environment
3. Release negative baggage and boost confidence and self-esteem
4. Promote collaboration and a sense of belonging in teams and groups
5. Integrate your inner strengths and find practical answers to living in the world

The Connection Practice envisions a world where generational pain is transformed into generational peace.
